A couple claims that they unknowingly became accomplices to a kidnapping in Washington after they discovered the child they were babysitting was kidnapped.
John Tuong told authorities that he had no idea that the child had been abducted, but discovered the situation he was facing after an amber alert was sent out Washington morning.
Tuong told authorities that her sister had asked him and his wife to watch over her boyfriend’s son on Tuesday night, and Tuong did not suspect any wrongdoing.
It was not until the next morning that he discovered what had happened; Tuong told KOMO, “I’m eating my breakfast, I’m checking my Facebook, all of a sudden I see this Amber Alert for this child, and it looks like this child in my bed, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God! What’s going on?’
The mother of the child was reportedly shocked by a Taser, and tied up and placed in another home in Fife; the mother was thrown in a garage, but was able to free herself. She then ran to a nearby home to seek help.
Tuong’s sister, Alyssa Chang, was then arrested for the abduction, and is being held in jail with a 250,000-dollar bail, while the investigation about the abduction and the assault is concluded.
The child’s grandmother was also involved with the abduction, and turned herself in to the authorities shortly after Chang was arrested.
It is unclear whether or not Tuong will have to face any charges because he is claiming that he had no idea that the boy was kidnapped, and he called the police as soon as he saw the amber alert posted on Facebook.
