The historic tournament of the FIFA World cup is scheduled to be held in 2022 in Qatar. It’s going to be the 22nd Edition of this tournament. This world cup will be the first one that an Arab country will host whose majority is the Muslim-population. Due to the hot climate of Qatar, the 2022 World Cup will behind from November till mid-December instead of May, June or July. Also, Qatar is the smallest country to have been given the right to host a FIFA World cup.
Ever since Qatar got the right to host the world cup, there have been controversies surrounding it. Many claims that the country bribed the representatives to vote in its favor. Also, because of the climatic conditions, the tournament was shifted to the Winter, like in the months of November and December. Many issues and complaints are also going on about how the country’s laws don’t obey universal human rights. Even though the FIFA World Cup 2022 has a controversial setback, people’s anticipation of the world’s biggest football tournament hasn’t wavered at all.
Which teams are playing?
According to the official standards, 32 teams play in the tournament. But, there is a possibility of expanding the participating teams to 48, if the member associations of FIFA vote in favor of this proposal at the 69th FIFA Congress, which is to be held in 5th of June, 2019. The qualification process for the upcoming world cup has not been announced yet, but the 211 member associations of FIFA are eligible to participate in the qualification tournament.

ASIA – 47 teams
EUROPE – 50 teams
NORTH, CENTRAL AMERICA, and CARIBBEAN – 42 teams
SOUTH AMERICA – 10 teams
OCEANIA – 14 teams
Venues for the game
In January 2019, the FIFA authorities agreed on allowing Qatar’s neighboring countries to host a couple of matches of the tournament in order to reduce political tensions.

What to expect from the 2022 FIFA World up?
Just like always, the matches played by the fan favorites, Germany, France, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, etc. will be highly looking forward to. The reigning champions, France, will be in the spotlight. Also, Qatar will be the first hosts ever whose national team has never played in the finals before. Thus, this world cup will garner a lot of attention this time. The number of football fans also has form rapidly in the past few years. FIFA World Cup has become synonymous with football. Thus, even if the 22nd FIFA World Cup remains shrouded with controversies, FIFA, the tournament and football will still thrive, nonetheless.
