A 23-year-old Texas woman has been arrested upon the discovery of 75 pounds of liquid crystal methamphetamine located inside her vehicle, according to the Austin police report. Authorities believe the street value of the drugs is a whopping $2 million.
Seline Lizbeth Ayala was initially stopped for speeding on Highway 35 in Austin last Wednesday, just minutes shy of 11:30 p.m. The officers became suspicious of the driver during their interaction, the APD said in a statement.
The Laredo woman initially told the police that she was traveling to Dallas for a work meeting. However, that story changed throughout their conversation, according to a criminal complaint filed in the United States District Court. The suspect became nervous and “verbally aggressive” when police questioned her misleading story and refused to let the authorities search her 2013 Dodge Avenger.
Once officers dispatched drug-sniffing canine, Emma, to the scene, officers found three “Purple Power” degreaser jugs containing the 75 pounds of liquid crystal meth.
Another female passenger was in the car, along with a 4-year-old child. The passenger told police she was picked up by the suspect so she could babysit, according to the criminal complaint.
In an interview, the suspect confessed to investigators that this had been her second arranged methamphetamine delivery, both of which were coordinated by an unnamed man near her home in Laredo.
Ayala is currently facing federal trafficking charges, police said. She is being held without bond and has her preliminary detention hearing July 21.
