Jess from New Girl is about to have quite the big pay day.
Zooey Deschanel, the beloved actress from films such as Elf and 500 Days of Summer, just sold the women’s website she created in 2011 with her friends Sophia Rossi and Molly McAleer. The site, HelloGiggles, takes a fun, creative approach to women’s issue and is never short on the adorable factor with its pictures of cute nail art and the Internet’s favorite subject: baby animals.
“We see the opportunity for HelloGiggles to continue to evolve and grow as a multimedia content business,” said Time Inc. CEO Joe Ripp in a release. “The site provides strategic benefits including a contributor network that unlocks access to a new pool of editorial and creative talent, an expansive audience of highly-engaged consumers and experience in branded and native content solutions.”
According to Quantcast (via rushhourdaily.com), the site boasts a staggering 16 million unique visitors worldwide each month. HelloGiggles will join Entertainment Weekly and People as part of Time Inc’s “entertainment portfolio.”
The $30 million price looks good for Deschanel and her investors considering it means a 5x return.
Most recently Deschanel has starred in the hit comedy New Girl on Fox. She and new husband Jacob Pechenik have also recently welcomed a daughter this past summer.
