Anthony Silva, former Mayor of Stockton, California, was arrested Sunday. The police apprehended him from an International Airport in San Francisco; he had just come from South America(Columbia), as stated by his attorney, Allen Sawyer.
Silva had a warrant out for his arrest for many charges. For instance, he was charged with profiteering, embezzlement, misappropriation of public funds, and grand theft, with a host of other charges as well. His charges will be faced in San Joaquin County.
As a matter of fact, the mayor had left for his vacation a day prior to when the feds issued a warrant for his arrest. Investigators from the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office sent search warrants to the mayor’s house, the Stockton Kids Club, which was initially referred to as the Boys and Girls Club.
They most likely found out that he was out of town, due to his post on Facebook.
“Apparently Stockton can manage without me for a while so I decided to go explore the world. I am leaving on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again,”
He also posted two videos that showed he was in Columbia, but they deleted them soon after.
Sawyer also stressed that this current case is completely unrelated to the case he was facing in Amador County, last year.
Silva had gotten charged with four misdemeanor counts of secretly recording teen strip poker games and giving alcohol to minors. However, he denied the charges.
In 2015, Silva also was reluctant to report that to guns were stolen from his home during separate times. One his guns were found. A thirteen-year-old boy was murdered and one of the guns was linked to it. Silva did call the police after the incident.
Silva will be awaiting trial soon.
