It seems the Swedish eSports team Ninjas in Pyjamas are getting some big name sponsorships coming from UK bookmaker Betway. The deal is said to be a six-figure sponsorship deal.
As a part of the deal, the organization’s CS:GO roster will now be sporting Betway-branded gear in all press photos. In addition to this, Betway will also get full right to the usage of NiP related content as well as branding at the team’s gaming house and access to any player they desire.
NiP went through some major inside changes late last year when their chief executive Per Lilliefelth was fired from the org after reportedly having failed to pay an estimated $340,000 in prize money and in-game team sticker sales to the NiP players. He was then replaced by ex-chairman of the board Hicham Chahine.
After their infrastructure changes, the team came back strong and went on to win a handful of events, the most recent of which being the StarSeries Season 2 finals in September.
Now they are the first organization to sign such a sponsorship with Betway, one of several traditional bookmakers to launch into the eSports world since its creation in 2015.
Betway’s Anthony Werkman said the following about the partnership in a statement:
“As sponsors of West Ham United of the Premier League in England, we constantly engage with supporters to give them insight into the club they wouldn’t get anywhere else. It’s with these ideals, values and mission in mind that we partnered with NiP. They have a huge fan base all over the world and we are tremendously excited to provide exclusive, behind the scenes content on a regular basis as we follow the team’s quest to be the best.”
This sponsorship will most likely bring Ninjas in Pyjamas more money as well as opportunities to better improve and promote their team.
