Hillary Clinton is the Official Democratic Presidential Nominee

On Thursday night, the final night of the Democratic National Convention, Hillary Clinton finally accepted the Democratic nomination for President of the United States of America. She is the first female candidate to ever receive and accept a formal nomination.

Hillary was introduced by her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, who discussed the pride she had for her mother.

Chelsea talked about Hillary as a fighter who won’t stop fighting because “she never, ever forgets who she’s fighting for.” She mentioned her mother reading to her and the work her mother has done. These core speaking points were likely an attempt to make Hillary seem more emotionally sensitive, as her public persona does not seem as caring as it really is.

Hillary came out looking angelic in a full white pants suit, a signature look of hers. Her speech was in character and was definitely a moving one and one of divine hatred for rival Donald Trump. She covered her major policy points and her experience and proved that she could make a great president based on her actions and her words.

Hillary’s speech was about standing together, citing America’s model “out of many, we are one.” She talks about cooperating with other nations to defeat world problems and cites the many people who come out when others need help around the country.

She discusses her record as a children right’s lawyer, First Lady, Senator of New York, and Secretary of State. She talks about her accomplishments and the change she’s made in these roles during hard times. She shows her credentials but says she does her work for the public service, not the limelight or any other intentions.

Despite these outstanding accomplishments, Hillary is not known as the caring person her resume reflects. She addresses this in her speech, stating, “Some people just don’t know what to make of me.” She follows this up with her life story coming from a middle-class family with working class parents, an appeal to middle and lower class citizens.

Hillary made her agenda extremely clear, citing her plans and her intentions for the future, something Trump has neglected to do. These include growing jobs, having a living minimum wage, addressing student debt, expanding health care, and gun control, just to name a few.

The Democratic nominee made a point to discuss the issues in a Donald Trump presidency, her demagogue rival. She names his failures in business and his failure to keep manufacturing for his company in America. She calls him out for his racist and sexist comments, and his rash responses.

“A man you can bait with a tweet, is not a man you can trust with nuclear weapons,” she says.

The two candidates this year are criticizing each other sometimes more than talking about their own credentials. Many people are drawn to Trump when he puts fear in their hearts and minds, claiming the U.S. is in chaos. Hillary disagrees.

She states, “So don’t let anyone tell you that our country is weak. We’re not. Don’t let anyone tell you we don’t have what it takes. We do. And most of all, don’t believe anyone who says: “I alone can fix it,” a direct quote from Donald Trump.

The last four days of the Democratic National Convention have been a testament to Hillary’s work with others—from the kind words from her daughter to old rival Bernie Sanders to President Barack Obama, she has the full unwavering support of the party after yesterday.

She even addresses the firm Bernie supporters, stating, “your cause is our cause.” Hillary made it clear she will be a leader for “all Americans together” despite one’s beliefs, what party one identifies with or even who one votes for. She vows to fight for everyone. She urges people to “join us!”

Hillary is not known for her excellent speeches. This speech was not excellent but it most certainly got the job done. She even fit humor into the speech, at one point saying, “and I believe in science!” This endorsement for believing in climate change was a way to be clever in a speech filled with policy and hard topics.

Hillary’s speech was chimed in by chants of “Hillary” by the crowd. She is a candidate who knows what she’s talking about and is ready for the presidency.

Thursday was a historic day for women. Thursday was a historic moment for America, who has a woman running for president who is not only prepared for the job but is overqualified for the job.
