Unsurprisingly, Donald Trump’s African-American outreach program has had no effect on his actual popularity with black voters. Consistent with previous polls, Trump has less than 5% of the black vote nationally, and as low as 1% in the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

The most recent McClatchy-Marist poll found Trump at 2% with black voters.
The highest he polled with black voters was 4% in a Fox News poll. Mitt Romney did better in 2012 than Trump is doing now, and Romney was running against the first black president in United States history.
Slate’s Elliot Hannon joked that Trump’s Director of African-American Outreach, Omarosa Manigault, may end up being his single black supporter. He added that Trump’s poll numbers with black voters are not surprising given that he has said “laziness is a trait in blacks.”
Trump’s history of racism dates all the way to 1973, when the Justice Department found that he was actively violating the Fair Housing Act by purposely trying to prevent black people from renting apartments.
