Turkey will send its troops to Libya on the request of the Libya government. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan stated that soon they would send their forces to Libya. It might start next month. Turkey will send its troops on the request of internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) Libya. The GNA government is fighting against General Khalifa Haftar’s forces in Eastern Libya. Russia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt are supporting General Haftar’s forces in Libya.  The conflict is becoming friction for the whole region. Now, Turkey is going to send its troops to help the government. It might accelerate fighting and stimulus for other countries to become part of the conflict. It might solve the issue of strengthening the government.

The statement came after two separate agreements between Turkey and GNA during last month. They signed military and security cooperation agreements among them. They also signed another agreement for maritime boundaries in the Eastern Mediterranean.  President Tayyip Erdogan informed his party about an invitation from the Libya government to send troops. He stated that we would accept their invitation. However, prior permission will be accorded through parliament. The Turkish government will present the bill of sending its troops to Libya in parliament. The legislation will see and pass the troops’ deployment around 8-9 January 2019.

Turkish troops are already fighting in North-Eastern Syria against Kurd forces. President Erdogan also visited Tunisia to discuss possibilities of ceasefire and cooperation in neighboring country Libya. He claimed that Turkey and Tunisia agree to support GNA. Erdogan stated that they would not keep silence over the armed conflict in Libya by any militant group. They will not stay silent for armed support of General Haftar in Libya. On the other end, Russia has raised its concerns over Turkish troops’ deployment in Libya.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan inquired that why over 2000 Russian fighters and 5000 Sudan fighters are present there in Libya. Why are these fighters helping Haftar’s forces to fight against the official government? The official government did not invite them, but the official government invites us to help against them. That is the main difference between us and Russia and Sudan etc.

Russia and Turkey are supporting two different groups in Libya and Syria. Russia is backing Syrian President Bashar al Assad government. While Turkey is supporting rebels to overthrow the Syrian President, some other countries are also helping both groups in the Syrian civil war. The civil war has taken more than eight years to demolish the country’s peace. Thousands of people have fled from Syria to Turkey and other neighboring countries. Many of them have lost their lives during an attempt to take refuge. Reportedly, Russian and Turkish officials have met in Moscow to discuss the issue. They are seeking compromise on Syria and Libya issues. However, nothing fruitful has come to know.

It seems another conflict among Muslims in a Muslim country involving neighboring Muslims and Non-Muslim countries. However, the ultimate damage and loss will be to Muslim nations and the hosting country. The Islamic countries are suffering from crisis, and Muslims are in miserable conditions. Recently, such concerns were raised during the Kuala Lumpur Summit -2019. Kuala Lumpur Summit Calls for Solution to Muslim World’s ProblemsTurkish and Iranian Presidents were also among prominent attendees.  Then why they are not going to resolve the Syria and Libya issues with dialogues and peaceful process. These situations have worsened the lives of local populations, mostly comprising of Muslims.
